It’s My Community Store works with Reno Rebirth Blog

We are excited to say that recently we have been doing a lot of work with the Reno Rebirth Blog.  Jenifer, our CEO is doing monthly posts on what the Reno area can do to better the community, you can see the first post by clicking the link below.

How even a tiny business can show some community love

In addition to the monthly posts, It’s My Community Store was featured in a story by Mark Robison on Sunday. The story included several local businesses that are giving back to their community and of course our section about turning office supplies and printer supplies into funds for more than 50 non-profits.  Take a look at the article and what all these great businesses are doing for charities, non-profits, and their communities.

Big Companies Save Money With It’s My Community Store

Earlier this week one of our newer customers called looking for tape for their office labeler, but could not find it on our website. He provided me with an Office Depot part number and shortly after I was able to find the exact same product on our website, the only catch is that we offer the tape for five dollars less than Office Depot.

This isn’t the first time we have been more affordable than our competitors, in fact on average we save our customers 20 to 30 percent more than what they would spend at a big box store.

Another great example is our sticky notes; we sell 12 pads for $3.99. For the Office Depot brand it costs $14.99. You can’t find a better saving then that and on top of that you get the satisfaction of giving back to your community.

Another common misconception that we have encountered in the past few months is the thought that we can’t handle larger sized businesses; this of course is not true.  We currently provide office supplies to companies such as PENCOM, Tamarack Junction Casino, Reno Buick GMC Cadillac, GST International, and Creative Coverings. These businesses are all large scale companies, either by the number of people they employee, the amount of supplies they order, or the amount of area that they provide services for. The fact that we are a unique business doesn’t stop us from providing office supplies and printer supplies to large companies.

We are always looking to take on new businesses regardless of their size and monthly demand.  We offer reasonable prices and shipping costs as well as the satisfaction of knowing you helped a non-profit organization.  To request a custom quote please visit click here.

Creative Ways to Use Office Supplies: Mouse Pads as Kitchen Aids

If there’s one thing more fun than using Reno office supplies in the office, it’s using Reno office supplies in the kitchen. Below are several fun ways to recycle old mouse pads and increase your efficiency in the kitchen at the same time.

Trivets
A mouse pad with a non-plastic coating can be put to use in the kitchen as a heat pad. Place it on your counter, table or any other surface you wish to protect from hot pots and pans.

Cabinet liners
Line up your old mouse pads in your kitchen cabinets. This is an excellent way to secure your plates and glasses from slipping.

Jar Openers
Most mouse pads have a rubber grip texture on their underside that’s perfect for loosening the lids from stubborn jars or bottles. Simply place the pad on the jar in question and twist with ease.

Be Green: Recycle Toner

Reno, are you looking for an easy way to go green in your office? Look no further than your printer supplies. Recycle toner cartridges, don’t just throw them away. Here’s why:

  • It takes one gallon of oil to produce one toner cartridge
  • More than 350 million empty toner cartridges end up in landfills ever year
  • It takes 450 years for laser toner cartridges to decompose and some of the industrial plastic components up to one thousand years.

Most toner manufacturers make it super easy to take this environmentally-friendly step. So why not recycle them? Just drop your empty cartridges in the mail.

At It’s My Community Store we have a huge assortment of inks, toners and papers for all your laser, copier, fax and inkjet machines. Purchase your printer supplies from us and give back to the community simultaneously. You can give back up to 10 percent of your purchase to the organization of your choice. To benefit the community in more than one way, recycle your IMCS printing supplies when you are done with them.

Organize Your File Folders By Color

If you’ve ever  tried to track down a misfiled document, boy can those of us at It’s My Community Store relate. As Reno’s leading office supply store we know the task of finding that document that has disappeared into the abyss can be rather frustrating. How can this problem be solved? By indexing your files to a color code, of course. Below are a few tips for using colored file folders and labels to create a more efficient file storage system.

Desk Files

You recognize colors much faster than you read text. Replace labels such as To Do, Pending and Follow up with colored file folders. Or try assigning each project its own colored file. Before long, you’ll ID the contents of each folder by color instead of by name, and save time.

File Categories

Divide your info into major categories, then assign each group a file folder color. For example, use red files for customer data, green for financials, blue for vendor and yellow for forms. Filing and retrieving documents goes a lot faster when you can identify the contents of a folder with a glance.

Eliminate Misfiles

Mislaid files stick out in a color coded filing system. Our eyes are trained recognize color fast than text so filing and retrieving documents goes faster. Using colored file folder labels creates visual bands of color. It’s easy to spot misfiles and quickly find specific folders if they are color coded. Assign each component of your filing system a label color. So if you file alphabetically each letter gets its own color, numerically each number, and so on.
